Hand-operated theatrical puppet representing a male clown or comic character, probably made for a Punch and Judy show. The figure has a carved and painted head with prominent facial features, a pointed blue, yellow, and red cap, a textile ruff, striped waistcoat, patterned jacket and trousers, painted hands, and black lower legs. The maker is unknown. The identification with a Punch and Judy performance is probable rather than certain.
